Just want to hear everyone's opinion.

Pro - For the most part, anyone can come here with nothing but the will to work and still make a living.

Con - No free healthcare

I don't agree with your pro.

Con - The economy.  The fact that they may start a mandatory military draft for 18-24 year olds.  No free health care.

Pro - They don't put their milk in bags.

---

Obviously there's more.  I don't mind living here, it's fine.  But the only distinct pro that could come to my head was the milk thing.

This, plus the Federal government just loves to violate the state's rights.

Your cons are retarded. The economy is in a recession. It will get better.

There will be no draft.

And we already give to many free things away to people that dont deserve it

Usually the ones who say this kinda shit are the ones who've never been here, and just go with the flow of stereotypes because it makes them giggle, when in reality, it's pretty lame.

Do you have a link to the draft thing? I don't believe they would have the need to do that with our military power.

Whether or not you agree with them, they are still cons.  Of course the economy will get better, but for now?  It is bad.  I would hope there's no draft, and it probably won't go through.  But that was why I used the word "may".  And as for the last one, some people can't afford healthcare, and while we may give other 'free' things away, it's still a con for those that need health care over those other free things.

Every country will have pros and cons, there's no such thing as perfect, obviously.  So how can cons, which are clearly something negative, be 'retarded'.  Just because there are other pros to back things up doesn't mean those other things are not cons.

Because its like saying a con of Germany is the Nazi party. Its not going to matter. The last one is legit, though I dont agree. The draft will not happen. And the economy is going through its life. I cant see that as a con.

Basically its going to be things that wont matter in about a year.

con-racism, shitty welfare state, and illegal immigration that needs a reform

pros-entertainment, sports, standard of living

-- Posted by WindChill at 10:44 am on July 10, 2009

Con - No free healthcare.

It's not a draft in the 'draft' sense, lol.  Just a three month requirement that's would be manditory for like 18-20 something years old.

Chances are, it won't actually happen, but I consider it a con if I have to go into mandatory training for three months.  Sorry about the added bubbles on youtube, they're annoying and I don't agree with them.  I just consider it a con if I actually have to be a part of it.

Of course, the draft probably won't happen (and it would only be like three months), but even still, it's a con.  It's not something good, even if it doesn't happen.  And the first, yeah, it may not matter in a year, but when it affects you it hurts you, and it's a con.  If you want to look long term, then you can.  But right now, it's undeniable that the economy (especially in this state) is a con for me at least.  The OP never stated that it was, "is being an American bad or good" or "Why does america suck"... so I'm merely putting points out there, which are negative.

Long term, you're right, it won't matter.  But right now, it does, and in no way can I consider the economy a pro... so I set it as a con, because I'm also not thinking that I don't see it as good or bad.

Oh.  No, I definitely agree there are other major ones (and other major pros as opposed to having milk that's in cartons).  The one's I just stated literally have come up in conversation yesterday, so they were in my head.
