Maybe because they think it'll make more people like them, they don't feel like discussing their opinion, or many other reasons. But there are ones who care enough to tell someone how it really is and honestly, that'll probably help the person out more in the long run. Which do you do most often? If we are friends then I normally tell the truth unless it's something that will hurt them and you can get by without telling them anything.
