I'm writing an essay for my honors philosophy class. The professor said that the paper should be between 1000-1500 words. I'm nearly done, and I'm at about 900. I feel that I've answered the question. If I write more, I might start contradicting or second guessing myself. But then again, I'm 100 words away from the suggested minimum. Should I add some filler sentences, or leave it be?

Add incredibly long descriptive words.

Add more, they like to read a lot.

Add something of substance. What's the topic?

a true philosopher would not even write the paper, as they would question it's initial existance in the first place

Add more.

leave it. I got an A+ for an essay at 1,400 words that was supposed to be at 2,000 - 2,500

Finish with a big fancy decision.

Definitely leave it.

The ethical questions raised by Kieslowski's Decalogue VII and Decalogue VIII. I have to use four different philosophers to point out the questions, but not answer them in doing so. I'm not a big fan of this particular assignment.

I'm sure he's not going to count the words.

But 100 words is a good quarter of a page. It might be obvious that I'm missing a good part of my essay.

Just add some stuff to be on the safe side. I know in my freshman year I've gotten away with tons of essays that were short of the required length, but it's not always a guarantee. Better safe than sorry.
