Gov. Sarah Palin announced Friday that she will step down as Alaska's chief executive by the end of the month. She will not seek election to a second gubernatorial term in 2010.

Hopefully she won't be running in 2012 for the presidency...

I think that's why she's stepping down. To get ready for her campaign.

-- Posted by Soccerchik107 at 4:16 pm on July 3, 2009

Yeah I heard about that. I wonder why she decided to quit.

Her biggest plus is the amount of screaming the libs do against her. Their fear of her is absolutely amazing.

Not the fear of her, the fear of her stupidity.

If that were the case, they wouldn't be making such a fuss. They wouldn't be trying to destroy her. They only do those things to those they believe may be serious contenders. If they really thought she was that stupid, they'd step back and let her do it to herself.

The only problem is that conservatives took her seriously.

So?

So nothing Palin was doing was destroying herself in the eyes of conservatives because they're fucking retarded. But you know what? She lost and she'll never hold another major office, so I'm happy. You can go ahead and cry.

Yeah, but it is a justified fear. She has a very anti-scientific mindset.

Observe the brilliant intelligence of Sarah Palin rejecting genetic research on fruit flies.

Note that fruit fly research is almost the sole reason  for much of the massive amount of knowledge we have gained about genetics during the last one hundred years. This is because fruit flies have very fast generation and have genomes that can be manipulated easily.

This was the precise moment I lost all respect for Palin. Someone who has this little respect for science should not hold office anywhere.

What did she lose?

Why are the libs still on her case if they think she's no threat?

That was well executed, I have to admit.

-- Posted by Moridin at 3:44 am on July 4, 2009

But seriously, it is very dangerous when you have political leaders who show such ignorance and disrespect for science, whether it is evolution, global climate change, fruit fly research or whatnot, because it has the power to plunge the worlds biggest scientific superpower into an anti-scientific mindset.

News flash for you then. Most liberals and independents I know of consider her a joke, and a rather amusing one at that. If she ran in 2012 I'd be shocked if she made it past the primaries, even with the GOP's slide towards the far right.

as if Palin was a seriously contender! It's obvious that she was just McCain's way of getting the female vote. Trust, if Hilary had been running they would have picked a black guy.

Palin is such a fail.

Most Americans should thank Palin for working so hard to defeat McCain.

She is a threat to America, which I guess is why people mock her so much. She is as much a threat as any other extremist politican. We can only hope she goes on into 2012 making sure the Reps remain divided and weak.

First, it wasn't Palin who defeated McCain... but why should be be thankful? It's only gotten worse since Obama took over.

-- Posted by The Samsoniteman at 5:41 pm on July 4, 2009

I was assuming most Americans wanted Obama, therefore not preferring a Republican.

Palin did indeed help defeat McCain, were we watching the same election? Her crazy disturbed enough moderates for them to swing to Obama. McCain was rightly worried that he would divided the Reps, it's just he picked the wrong candidate who pushed away voters in three ways: with her crazy, with the scandel and with her attempted overshadowing of him near the end when it became clearer he was losing.

If she wants to run in 2012 she seriously needs to repair her reputation.

As someone who was very involved in the campaign of 2007-2008 I can tell you moderates were already locked to Obama.  McCain chose Palin to secure the base which was not happy with the most liberal of the Republicans being their candidate.

Palin did not lose the election for McCain.
