Observe the brilliant intelligence of Sarah Palin rejecting genetic research on fruit flies. Note that fruit fly research is almost the sole reason  for much of the massive amount of knowledge we have gained about genetics during the last one hundred years. This is because fruit flies have very fast generation and have genomes that can be manipulated easily. This was the precise moment I lost all respect for Palin. Most liberals and independents I know of consider her a joke, and a rather amusing one at that. She is a threat to America, which I guess is why people mock her so much. She is as much a threat as any other extremist politican. Palin did indeed help defeat McCain, were we watching the same election? Her crazy disturbed enough moderates for them to swing to Obama. McCain was rightly worried that he would divided the Reps, it's just he picked the wrong candidate who pushed away voters in three ways: with her crazy, with the scandel and with her attempted overshadowing of him near the end when it became clearer he was losing. As someone who was very involved in the campaign of 2007-2008 I can tell you moderates were already locked to Obama.  McCain chose Palin to secure the base which was not happy with the most liberal of the Republicans being their candidate.
