so i've been cutting for years and i can't seem to find a replacement for it. snapping the rubber band on my wrist doesn't seem to do shit. does anyone have a better idea of how i can replace cutting?

I remember my ex g/f had the same problem...and the answer is simple....you'll stop when you're ready...its like an abusive relationship, when you get tired of all the bull...you'll eventually stop.

Have you tried talking to a friend about it? That's what I did and that's the only thing that helped me. I tried to replace it with various things and never found something that would work, but my friends were able to help me control my urges and eventually stop altogether.

I haven't cut in months... I don't know how I stopped I just didn't feel like I needed it anymore

That's what I though for the longest time. It took me forever to tell most of my friends. I don't really know what they thought about it in particular, but they helped me a ton as far as recovering went and stood by me though many difficult days. I'm sure your friends will help you if you told them. I know it's difficult, but it's not impossible.

i guess considering that i go to a mental health school, people can't really be that judgemental there...most of the kids are there for cutting....still nervous about mentioning it to any of my friends though...../:

That's understandable. It's not an easy thing to tell someone, especially a friend.
