-- Posted by Daveh at 7:56 am on June 29, 2009 My PC has had a bad few months, i have got Dos'd a few times. 2x i was dos'd and couldn't use the internet for hours. last time i was dos'd for ages which crahsed virgin media servers. They have sorted the problem now, i know who it was. I expect virgin to have blocked them now. Anyways, i also got infected with internet security 2009. I had no protection at all and couldn't install anything, run anything or access the command prompt, msconfig or the  task manager. I have just reformatted. Ok so now i've learnt my lesson. I'm going to install security. and a lot of security. This is my working PC and i'm very lucky i didn't loose any files. Currently i have installed Firewall: Comodo Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes Anti-Virus: Avast Home Free Should this be enough? and also what settings should i use on my firewall to make it extremely hard to get dos'd? I want real-time protection, but want my network not to be slowed down. I have a 20MB soon to get a 50MB. With any router these days you're pretty much safe from  DDoS attacks because the router is in stealth mode and won't route unsolicited packets. You can only manage things to a certain extent, you will always be affected by an attack. ----- To the OP: There is nothing more that you can do, although I find it hard to belive that you have gotten targetted for a dos . . . Don't install anything else on your computer (well, any fully featured programs). I've had my rack at my DC DDOSed but I've axed them and also my game server. Comodo works better as the Security Package as all 3 of what you listed. Spybot S&D, AdAware, Highjack This would be good Anti Spyware. Has this grudge against me leaving after years of hard work with no gratitude. That was of course over a year ago...
