Basically, the laptop I got yesterday, is a hardy lil bastard, good for basic shit, burning, internet, papers, etc.

My step-dad wants me to pull prices for a new computer, desk or lap.

Basically, I want it good for gaming, and I want it to be able to hold a lot of music, and I don't want something slow. And no macs.

25 points to a person who gets me a good model that i like. TRy to keep it reasonable though, def. no 1k comps.

If you want to use it for gaming, go with a desktop. Some laptops are good for gaming, but to get good performance for a good price, stick with the desktop.

Got a basic price range?  I can find good deals between $500 (not so much for modern gaming), up into many thousands of dollars.
