Details below:
wtf? Basically, create a video spoofing a movie of your choosing. You may act in the video, direct the video, or write the script, but when you post the video, you have to specify whether you acted, directed, or wrote. It must be at least 6 minutes long, but no more than 25 minutes. You can upload your entry to any video hosting site (preferably YouTube, but I really don't care that much), and then post the final product here in this topic.
What can I spoof? Whatever the hell you want, provided it isn't already a spoof movie. For example, you may not spoof stuff like Date Movie or Scary Movie and the like. Anything else is fair game, though. Dramas, comedies, action adventure, romance, animated films, whatever.
What am I being judged on? You're primarily being judged on overall entertainment factor and quality of the video, but there will also be a slight lean, depending on what you did in the video. For example, if you are acting, you will be judged more harshly on the acting. Likewise, if you directed the video or wrote the script, you'll be judged on the directing or the script, respectively.
Can I judge? No, judges have been chosen. They are Sheebobee, HANCOCK, and myself.
But I can't make a whole movie by myself! You can have as many people involved as you like. But if there are multiple LiveWire members in the same movie, the prize pool will be split evenly amongst them.
Speaking of prizes... Right now I'm throwing in 8,000 points. This will grow if I get a decent amount of entries. I'll also get this up on the contest page so that other members can put more points in, if they want.
How long do I have Well, I know that this could potentially be a long project. So to encourage quality and a decent amount of entries, I'm going to post a tentative deadline for Saturday, July 13th. That gives you just about 4 months, and also allows some room for people who may not have a lot of time until Summer comes along.
Why are you doing this? Because I'm bored and I thought it'd be neat.
So have at it, gogogo!

It doesn't have to be. Technically, you could make it very simple. If you wanted, you could play all the parts and record it on your cheap webcam. Or you could make a flash animation. Or you could make little paper people to be your actors. It really doesn't matter as long as it's entertaining and is a decent spoof of the movie that you chose.

Ill judge if you want.

Which is why you have four months.

I had to do something very similar for my English project, we had to make a parody of a movie of our choosing.. me and my friends did Fast and the Furious..
My video is too short to be in the contest (6:41), but I'm posting it up for people to see an example to work off of.. =)
It took us about five hours to film (we had to decide what to do in the film, script and all)
You guys can judge on my VERY bad acting.. =)
[I directed and acted..]
I come in at 2:40.. ;]
Enjoy!

A couple updates. Sheebobee and HANCOCK are now judges, and I've lowered the minimum length for videos from 8 minutes to 6 minutes to be a bit more fair, since Youtube's max length for most people is 10 minutes. So VrtclSpydr's video now counts as an entry.

This seems very interesting!
I really want to enter a video but July...?!? I would have hoped t quit my addiction to this site by then :P
Can you bump the time up a little?

i know what i can do it on now im still not sure if i can go through with it though yet. is it ok if most of the script is more like the book than the movie? its still pretty much the same scene otherwise

As long as it still corresponds with the movie, that is fine with me.

Very nice idea. I'll be watching these. I won't enter though, because I fail at movies. x3

You ought to update the length change on the Contests page itself (from the sidebar).
