My friend is super super drunk and he's been puking for the last hour or so and he just fell down in the bathroom and started puking again after getting up. I've never been around this shit before so what do I do? Does he need medical help?

-- Posted by patchysmiles at 11:46 pm on Jan. 5, 2009

no. make him drink lots and lots of water.

-- Posted by heyRACH at 11:46 pm on Jan. 5, 2009

he could have alcohol poisoning.

Throwing up after drinking doesn't need medical attention.  Hes still drunk and his body is rejecting the alcohol.  Its normal.

If its like for hours, then yeh.

Take the alcohol away from him, for starters.

probably

if he passes out and is still puking, or has irregular breathing, then he definitely does

stay with him as much as possible. i mean it, don't let him out of your sight, even to piss. if he passes out, make sure he's laying down face down. other than that, you should be fine.

Possibly. Take him to the ER in case of alcohol poisoning.

Don't leave him alone. If you lay him down, make sure its on his stomach with his head to the side.

Medical attention doesn't seem necessary at this point.. but if he starts puking without waking up or he passes out and you can't wake him up-- he needs to go to a hospital. After each time he pukes, give him food and water... I know he will just puke it up, but especially the water will help.

Laying on side is best.  Front and back can both lead to choking.

How long has he been puking?  If it continues and you're worried, take him to the hospital.  Other than that, just try to keep him from choking on his own throw up.  Try giving him water whenever you can.  Also, if he goes to sleep, keep him on his side in case he throws up in his sleep.
