I am down in georgia until Sunday.  Well I have a little cousin whose name is Lexy..well actually Alexis Ruby-Ann. but we just call her lexy.  Anyway.  She has alapesha which is a hair losing disorder and can make ppl go bald if it is severe enough.  She is nine remind you.  She started losing her hair at 4yrs old.  Only in patches though so it was easily hidden by other hair or could be hidden by ponytails.  Within the past year she lost most of her hair and started wearing it very short so you couldnt tell.  I arrived here tuesday to my little cousin running to me looking like a cancer patient.  She has no hair, no eyebrows and no eyelashes.  they just wont grow.  Well I sat down with her last night and we had a heart to heart.  At first we talked about family things, like how she likes living with her dad and stepmom and stepsisters.  And to be honest that much broke my heart too.  She told me in these exact words "I feel that since I lost my hair, my family lost me too"  and she went on to tell me how she feels that lauren and evan have taken her spot light and she has been forgotten about.  Which brought upon me asking her how she feels about having no hair.  and she told me " I stopped wearing my wigs and bandanas wanna know why? and i asked her why? and she said "Because people are gunna like me wither or not i have hair and God made me this way.  Ashley if I lose all my friends I don't care because I have God and he is all i need.  I am special. Plus I have some grass growing!!"  she calls the peach fuzz she gets "grass"  she is so proud of that little hair she has.

We walked into stores today and so many ppl looked at her and as she says gave her the "poor little cancer girl" look.  2 ppl came and hugged her asking how chemo went so far with her and others just gave her pitty smiles.  It breaks my heart to have to watch her go through all this frustration at only 9yrs old.  I dont know who is gunna care about this but i figured she has such an amazing story and it could change someones outlook at life.  It changed mine...

meet lexy.... her pics are in my IB

I lost all my hair at a pretty young age myself (at around 12), due to a illness called Alopecia, so I know how it is. And I'm surprised at how she calls the fuzz 'grass' because I call it that too! I do know for a fact that she will handle it well, she sounds like a strong and determined girl - I didn't have that kind of optimism towards my baldness until after I turned 18. I wish Lexy all the very best. (:

yeah she has Alopecia i just didnt know how to spell it lol.  She is soo strong and I love her so much
