I have an eating disorder(anorexia). Can that cause insomnia?

it can mess with your sleeping patterns and your head sometimes, so the anorexia could possibly be causing the insomnia.

Very much so. You could (and probably do) have anemia, which can contribute majorly to sleep disorders.

I have severe insomnia. Very severe. However, it was much worst when I wasnt eating regularly/healthy. And I was eating. Im sure its much worst with anorexia. And even now that I have started eating, I still have slight anemia, and my doctor has pushed me onto vitamins, because apparently that can cause insomnia/make it worst.

Do u think I should tell my mom to take me to get blood work to check for anemia? I'm on those "one-a-day vitamins for teen girls". I'm doing better, I'm up to atleast eating 2 meals a day. I won't eat any type of meat though! So yea I may need to get blood work then.

Couldnt hurt. Does your doctor know about your eating disorder and your insomnia?

Yeah they know about my eating disorder, but I've never been diagnosed with insomnia before.

Be sure to talk to your doctor about that, and express your concerns that the two may be related. Eating disorders often are tied into some sort of anxiety or depression, which are often the cause or result of insomnia. If you have insomnia, its connected. And if you live in the US on Eastern, or Central time, you probably have insomnia, since you are obviously still awake, despite it being the middle of the night. Well, if you are consistently awake at this time of night.

I know anorexia can cause death, but can not sleeping be an effect of anorexia?

You can't sleep when you're dead.
And yes, it can. See a doctor
