Has anybody here ran away from home? Anybody with family members who have NPD, BPD, or even anything else?

Any stories?

I know you're anon for a reason. But feel free to message me... honestly, I've pretty much tried everything out there in order to escape.

Wow, that's rough. I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's very impressive what you've done and how you've progressed. I guess I'm trying to get stories. I can't diagnose my dad, but I'm pretty sure he has full-blown NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) which is practically not diagnosed cause they don't seek help. He's gotten worse and it's affected me a lot. In high school, I pretty much was depersonalized and had delusions. He's very selfish and has no empathy. My first year of college was hard as hell because recovering wasn't easy. I still haven't recovered. When I came back from college this summer, my mom who is a co-dependent oh his narcissism controls my every action. Basically, the self that I tried to construct in college has been destroyed in a small amount of time. That's when I figured he has NPD. Now I'm trying to do research and try to financially support myself. I've been in therapy in college and I have to talk about this with her. I know I need to leave. I don't think there is a way of me to have a relationship with them without them destroying my life.

Mmm, I probably have one of the oddest family histories.
My parents divorced ON my first birthday. My mum got custody, my dad had a slue of girlfriends who raised me more than he did.
When I was 11 - 13 my mum started having major mood swings. She locked me in my room, threw stuff at me, screamed, cut me off from contact people. At 13 I moved to my dad's.
My stepmum hated me... wrote fake journals and passed them off as mine to my dad, told my dad I was cutting and made me strip down in front of them to see if I had cuts anywhere on me, told me I was an ungreatful 'creature' incapable of love.
Finally I went to boarding school when I was 15. I turned myself around. I also got back in touch with my mum who I hadn't spoken to since I was 13. My dad hated it, he cut me off.

When I was 16 I moved back to my mothers house, she had calmed down some and looked into medication for her mood swings. We were on welfare, I had to pay for house bills and put food on the table cause she couldn't seem to get a job.

Later that year I tried to run away with a boy to the States. I got to the boarder before I was caught and thrown in a holding cell till they could figure out what to do with me.

After that I've kept pretty quiet. My dad and I have a horrible relationship, I'm still supporting my mum (even when I moved out when I was 17 - 19. I just moved back two months ago cause she needs help again.), I don't talk to my stepmum. I have no relationship with my stepsiblings... Eh. That's the rough outline.

Why do you want to know? If you're looking for guidance on your own family you should ask more direct questions.

I guess I'm looking for stories. I don't know if I'm looking for guidance, I know I need to leave my family situation. I'm 19 so it's legal and I'm saving money. I was just looking for someone in common. Those that have done it and the process I guess.

Mothers that are prego in a abusive home have kids that are more likely to be bullys. Before they are born the kid knows its going to have to defend itself, so gets ready to as soon its its born.
