Someone posted an e-help about having an abortion, and I wrote a lengthy reply with honesty and truth, even though I knew I was going to get a low rating because it wasn't going to be what the person wanted to hear.

I iz proud.

I agree with the abortion, do you?

On certain circumstances, but no. Not when it's used as a way to get rid of a mistake you made. If you're mature enough to spread your legs and have sex knowing the consequences, then you should have to live with your irresponsibility. Especially if you make the mistake and then don't fork out the 50 bucks for a plan B pill.

Yet, if a woman is raped, then that's an entirely different story.

If someone is in a three year relationship, always uses a condom, and also takes birth control pills and gets pregnant, is that still considered irresponsibility?

I'm not arguing against you.  I don't know my own stand on abortion, so I'm just curious as to your thought on a matter like that.

Pregnancy from rape is pretty rare. Anyway, I think ANYONE should have the right to abortion, simply because it will NEVER be settled. It will never be legal or illegal. People's personal views and choices are going to govern the choice of getting an abortion or not. I mean, it's great that you have morals, and I do kind of agree with both of you, but aside from trying to persuade someone against getting one, what can you do? Scream and curse and shout at them?

I see a lot of people first try with gentle persuasion, and when they're attempt is rejected, they start shouting about what a horrible person they are, etc, etc. The simple fact of the matter is: we don't know what happened, or why they're doing it, and we don't have a right to know. It's not our business.

What are you talking about? No one debating or arguing or whatever. That's not even what this topic was about. It really had nothing to do with abortion. Daisy simply asked my view on it, so I gave it.

Fuck.

That's pretty much my view on it.  I don't have a 'it's bad' or 'it's good' attitude.  Different circumstances require different responses.

I guess for me it's important that an individual actively tried to prevent the pregnancy (including getting something like plan B if the condom breaks).  Then I can more readily justify an abortion.

But like I said, I don't really have a set view on the matter, I'm not sure how I feel.
