We do not learn about it in school so most of the exposure that Americans get is in the media. Everyone knows how twisted the media is. Most of the programing portrays other cultures in a bad light. I don't think that Americans are a racist people per say just that the culture creates those stereotypes. People in Europe like to say they aren't racist, but that's because they dont have a long history of racial minorities in ther countries. In all fairness, the people were more than likely acting suspicious or had names that showed up on a no-fly list. Most terrorists are muslims, but at the same time most muslims are completely non-violent. While there is the peaceful majority in islam, which is a peaceful religion, the minority of extremists give all muslims a bad name.
