Please use this sticky to discuss your piercings and tattoos. You're welcome to share pictures of your piercings/tattoos and ask any questions!

This topic can also be used to share any plans for upcoming piercings and tattoo designs.

Here's some information regarding popular piercings:

Eyebrow & Anti Eyebrow piercing.

Heal time: 6-8 weeks
Time taken to close once healed: 24-28 hours
Risks: High rejection rate but one of the safest facial piercings as in day to day life very little catches.
Jewellery: Barbells and captive bead rings
Placement: Anywhere from the edge of the eyebrow to above the eye, any further than that and there is a danger of it hitting one of the three Supra-Orbital nerves. Anti eyebrow piercings are placed horizontally above the cheekbone and below the eyebrow to the side of the eye.

Cheek Piercing.

Risks: Nerve damage causing man made dimples. Tooth or gum damage if pierced all the way through to the mouth.
Jewellery: Normally a 1.6mm flat backed labret stud.
Placement: Through the cheek and into the mouth to create the look of a dimple. It can be a surface piercing if a micro dermal is carried out.

Lip.

Heal time: 3-4 weeks (depends which piercing)
Time taken to close once healed: 8-20 hours
Risks: Tooth and gum damage caused by playing with bar/stud.
Jewellery: Differs from each piercing.
Placement:
Monroe Piercing: A piercing on the upper lip like Marilyn Monroe's beauty spot
Medusa Piercing: A piercing through the centre of the upper lip.
Labrets: A piercing with a flat back sitting between the lip and gum, can be pierced centre or off centre.
"Bites" including:
Angel bites - two Monroe Piercings.
Snake bites - two lower lip piercings on opposite sides of the mouth.
Viper bites - two piercings placed closely side by side on the lower lip.
Canine Bites - made up of a set of Snake and Angel bites.
Spider bites - four piercings in the lower lip.
Cyber bites - made up of a labret and a Monroe piercing.

Nose.

Heal time: 1.5 - 3 months
Risks: Risk of rejection in bridge piercings. Risk of nerve damage in septum piercings.
Jewellery: Circular barbell, curved barbell or captive bead ring.
Placement:
Nostril: A stud through either the left or right nostril.
Septum: 1.6mm ring through the cartilage between nostrils. Like a bull ring.
Bridge: Goes through the small flap of skin at the top (bridge) of the nose between the eyes.

Tongue.

Heal time: 4 - 6 weeks
Risks: Damage to teeth when playing with the bar and can cause bleeding if you go through a vein. In some circumstances tongues can swell causing breathing problems.
Jewellery: Straight barbell
Placement: Directly through the middle of the tongue or through the web underneath it (fraenulum).

Ear.

Heal time: 6 - 8 weeks. Can vary depending on which area of the ear is pierced.

Hand Web.

Heal time: Never heals
Time taken to close once healed: 5 hours
Risks: Snag and tear, high rate of rejection, piercing may also catch a nerve and cause paralysis of the hand.
Jewellery: Barbell or captive bead ring
Placement: Skin (web) between fingers/thumb.

Hip.

Risks: Snag may trigger rejection.
Jewellery: Surface Barbell
Placement: Pelvic area through skin near to the hip bone.

Navel.

Heal time: 3 - 5 months
Risks: Improper piercing in young girls can lead to infection.
Jewellery: Most kinds of bar and ring.
Placement: Pierced either the top or the bottom of the belly button

Nape.

Heal time: 3 - 12 months
Risks: High rate of rejection and migration
Jewellery: Surface bar or barbell
Placement: Nape of the neck

Corset.

Corset piercings are normally a temporary piercing used in a photo shoot. The piercings are normally not worn for more than a week and cause excessive scarring. For more information on corset piercings feel free to PM me or carry out your own research. Go here to start.

Here's some info on tattoo care:

1- Leave the bandage on for at least forty five minutes after getting your tattoo. A new tattoo is essentially a wound on your skin that permit bacteria to get through the first line of defense that your body has, your skin.

2- Soak the bandage with warm water when removing it. This will eliminate pulling off skin that might have stuck to the bandage while wet.

3- Clean off the gunk on the new tattoo after the bandage is removed. Wash it lightly with some warm water and antimicrobial soap or soap made especially for tattoo healing.

4- Apply a thin layer of moisturizing lotion, or products made for tattoo healing on your tattoo. Most lotions are acceptable so long as they are non-fragrence and non-coloured, as fragrence and colour can irritate the tattoo.

5- Continue to apply the lotion or salve in thin layers twice a day for three to five days. Then switch to an unscented lotion for about five to seven days or so until your tattoo has completely healed. Tattoo healing normally takes about 6 days to two weeks. A tattoo will generally go through two peels before it is completely healed.

All of that information is taken from here.

It's also important to make sure you only go to a professional tattoo artist using sterile equipment. :)

Now share your tattoos and piercings here!

Goddamn. I want to do this so bad but I don't start actually making money for over a month still and I'm so paranoid about spending what I have saved up already. But hopefully this weekend/next week I'll be like "fuck it" and get it done.

Planning on treating myself to clavicle microdermals if I get the job I'm hoping for.

High rejection rate and heavy scarring but they look good while they are there!

Since when do microdermals have a high rejection rate?

How long does it take for a nose piercing to completely heal?

I had mine done a while ago, like a couple of months, but it's still pretty painful to take out, and it gets kinda sore sometimes

Is that supposed to happen? :|

A few of my friends have recently got theirs done... it takes anywhere from 3-12 months. Some people are fine after even 2 months while some experience the pain for up to the full year. It depends how easy you scar, how quick you heal, ammount of cartilage pierced, method of piercing and placement.

Ah okay. Knowing my luck it'll take ages then
Thanks a lot :)
