Actually, the Tempo really only cost me $600 or so in required repairs. Although, to put all this in perspective, my twenty year old Ford economy car has cost less in over three years of ownership then my mom's 2002 Chevy blew in one day. $4,100 > $3,900. The only thing that is stock or unchanged is the front axle and the rear control arms. The control arms are being replaced soon though. Australians can't do math? 5/20 years is not half dumb ass. Plus, hibernation isn't all that great. It sat exposed to sun, snow, and vandalism with its windows rolled down and its battery drained. Hydraulics lock up, metals rust, hoses crack. Fortunately none of that happened to my car, and after simply charging up its battery and unburying it, it fired right up and drove on the spot. Since then she's been as reliable as can be. Only things that have had to be replaced was a $23 sensor and the right left spring. But because I love her, I've done some little upgrades here and there.
