Alright... I have to my left a laptop. Now, this family has one of those black boxes that you hook everything into from DSL (specifically WindStream) and they also have a wireless router that appears to be on. On the router the WLAN light is green. Now, I tried plugging the ethernet and the DSL cables into it and nothing happened as far as my laptop's wireless service... and yes, I connected to the wireless network. The wireless router is linksys if it helps.

I AM OFFERING... points for you to help me to get wireless internet on my laptop. It would be very much appreciated (and probably worth more points) if you messaged me privately and walked me through it. Thank you very much.

The wireless router is attached to the DSL modem, isnt it? Or does it go Modem > Router > Wifi Router? If thats the case, the settings in the wifi router may be off. Or they may have it on a subnet.

I could probably better help if I knew exactly what the set up was.
