Dost thou agree? I mean after all, one represents all.   EDIT: I honestly thought the sarcasm in this post was obvious. Some people are actually taking this seriously. Doesn't the "We're" give away that I'm talking about black people INCLUDING myself? Do you honestly think I'm so self hating, that I would refer to myself as a loud, rude, obnoxious, white people-hating (come on, my last ex was WHITE), ghetto, promiscous, illiterate, self/all-hating, stupid NIGGER? Replies justagirl5377 Posted at 4:40 pm on Oct. 28, 2009    Oh dear I've done it again.    I can't understand why I so often seem to make a comment which stops a thread dead in it's tracks.    Perhaps I'm just brilliant at summing things up so that nothing more needs to be said justagirl5377 Posted at 3:42 am on Aug. 5, 2009    Getting back to self-hatred,it seems to me that this is not a characteristic of blacks in particular but rather a characteristic of Americans in general.     In fact I think a case could be made for saying that Americans lead the developed world in self- loathing     Consider --          The US leads the world in Obesity & substance abuse.That is a huge proportion of your population who are virtually self-destroying           The US has the highest rates of imprisonment in the developed world.Thats a vast number of people being judged by their fellows as being unworthy.           The Us sets impossible standards of beauty & body type on its women folk that condemn about 90% of women to feeling anxious about not measuring up,& to disliking at least a part of themselves.In fact I think it fair to say that Americans must hate their women to want to do this to them           Finally the perpetuation of the belief in the American Dream - that anybody can make it if they want to & are prepared to work hard enough.Well it was never true & is certainly the opposite of true today. I don't think that is likely     The girl in the picture could be mixed race,like most of us.But with pale eyes she could be  Celtic,Spanish,or Greek All before & after a long holiday in the sun.But so what? Why is it important?      These days 'Black' seems to mean 'non -white' without taking into account all the different shades of 'non-white'so it is a meaningless term.       Similarly 'white ' is not defined, as though it is obvious when it isn't.Greeks ,Italians & Spaniards were considered non white in Aystralia for a long time as they were in England.The Nazis considered blue eyed blondes only to be real whites.I'm blue eyed & ash blonde but come from a family with many browneyed brunettes.My mother passed as South African Coloured ,a Maori in NZ,An Indian in NZ & S Africa. & a Mexican in the US.She was English Anglo-Saxon.        O know I'm labouring the obvious but I'm doing so because I suspect this sort of topic.Its implications of dividing us up into some specious heirarchy in a nudge- nudge wink- wink. sort of way.Why is everybody so concerned about non -whiteness in countries like the US in ways that are not to do with poverty & its commcomitants.What is it with Americans & race?             kidd rune Posted at 3:25 pm on July 19, 2009 I don't think it's self hating for Negroes to change their hairdo, but I can't speak for all of them.
