Replies Chapter6 Posted at 4:54 pm on Aug. 18, 2009 I've had troubles in life and have always been somewhat the somewhat outcast. But, I have friends and many of them are popular. I've learned in my life time to learn certain social skills and all that. In elementary, I had horrible social skills. Then, I got put into this school and even though I loathed it with a passion, it helped me become more mature and all that. Many of the people that didn't like me in elementary are now some of my best friends and some like my siblings. I've also made a TON of friends by doing theater and acting. And now, I want to be a professional actor in Hollywood and Broadway. If you're into the arts, look for an arts boarding school of some sort. Art schools are probably one of the BEST places you'll ever had! I'd say 99% of them are all very accepting of others and most non-judgmental. I've already made a ton of friends and I haven't even started there yet (I start in 12 days! YAY!). Try maybe taking some social skills classes and all that and try your hardest to learn all that stuff. It pays off if you can actually do it and committed. MoZ Posted at 4:52 am on July 14, 2009 i think autism is really cool - when your brain is wired in a completely different way i just find it fascinating. iconoclast Posted at 9:00 pm on July 13, 2009 dude, im going to post some things here that may surprise you i was a social outcast and very awkward with pretty much any social situation for almost all of my life. i was also 'strange' in many ways, obsessive, eccentric, etc. but the reason i was like that was because of my upbringing, not because of some innate disorder. and thats what i believe aspergers is, honestly. even if it isnt, people can change. in 10th grade, i just got tired of it and did a lot of things to change it. my reputation would not leavel me alone and the area im in is very passive aggressive as opposed to more direct fights and shit, so i ended up switching schools, but i actually gained a lot of social skills over 6 months. i forced myself into social situations, though not enough that i would totally freak out. i started working out a lot and just talking to people. its not easy. it will not even be close to easy. it was actually incredibly uncomfortable and frustrating, but i now have sky-high confidence and good social skills. i still get slightly uncomfortable around really really hot women because of repressed urges and because i shut myself in my room pretty much all the time, but that is different. its more of a choice for me now, because people are generally too unintelligent to have meaningful conversation with. but i run my own business and interact with parents and kids on a daily basis. i also DID have a decent social life before, but i blew off all my friends because i was just sick of their small talk bullshit. this is from an outcast with terrible social skills and eccentric behavior that had no confidence. im confident that you can at least drastically improve your situation. these mindsets can be very self-defeating so it will take awhile, but i still think you can given my experience with myself and others. even if you have it worse than me, its possible to make significant improvement with focused effort. hope this helped.... -brian SpRiNgS Posted at 12:28 pm on July 13, 2009 Quote: from Raiku at 12:26 pm on July 13, 2009 Quote: from SpRiNgS at 3:25 pm on July 13, 2009 yeah but dont whine about women, become a monk or something i dont whine, i insult ok but your "insults" sound like whining.
