i'm trying to connect to xbox live. i've already got the download, my adress is alright, i'm as far as it saying "make sure port 3074 is open on your firewall".

i already:
-opened "run" and typed in cdm
-got my gateway number
-typed that into my browser

i have a page open with all sorts of info about my broadband. Can anyone help me open this port? someone who can give a step by step pm me please

can you access the router?a.k.a. go to start>run>type: cmd

in there type: ipconfig
where it says default gateway (usually its 192.168.1.1)get that number and type it in your browser, it will most likely ask for your user name and password, look up "(place router model here a.k.a. linksys 43721 or whatever) default credentials" and get the user name and pass for it, type that in, and your into the router, when there look for "port forwarding" and froward 3074 to the i.p. of your xbox

Try www.portforward.com It has guides for virtually every router model and will show you how to open the needed ports.
