To keep this short and sweet, without making anyone read too much... basically I'm now 22 and graduated in '05.  I took the new SATs and did pretty crappy on them (1500 I think) and never took the ACTs.  My family has no money, and my dad won't co-sign for a loan because he got stiffed w/ my brothers loans when he dropped out of college.  I won't qualify for any scholarships (nor do they make it easy to even attempt to find them, so many scams and BS online...).  I currently don't have a job, and I don't have a car... I wish I could get a job so I could get a car, but despite how desperate I am, I can't find it in me to slave away at the only place that will accept me: Fast Food Chains.  I am good with computers, I've been building them for myself, friends, and family for well over 8 years.  But despite this, I think I am too multi-talented, and there's nothing that I really want to pursue more than another.  I play guitar and love music, would love to major in music.  I love to draw and digitally compose images and edit movies on the computer.  I love making websites, and do web-design and digital graphic design.  Also, I am fluent in English and Japanese, but not on paper.  There are so many directions that I could go with my future, but at the same time so many things holding me back.  And I guess, when it all comes down to it, the only thing on my mind, as more days pass by, is... my father is going on 57 years old and he is still unable to retire, because he has to feed everyone and pay the bills... and my mom is stay-at-home mom who hasn't qualified for SS yet, and I just want to go to school, or somehow find a job that will be able to support them for however long it takes, and when I'm satisfied, support myself.

It doesn't seem like this is as short as I wanted it to be... but no bother.  Where does one start with all of this?  I still live at home with my two older brothers (24,25) and younger sister (11), and it's really hard for me to concentrate and do what I wanna do.  I think a campus life is more suitable for me, something that will grant me freedom and privacy (especially when it comes to a relationship).  I hope you guys aren't reading this and thinking "He's hopeless."... but I really want to do something with all of these days that I waste.  I guess the real question is... where to now?

I think that is kind of besides the point, I know I have to do these things.  Some of it is laziness, but for the most part, I was waiting so long because I fear I'll fail and let down my parents, and most importantly, myself,  just like my brother did several years ago.

I think I would be more proud of my son that failed at trying to work and trying to go to school over the one that sat at home all day and did nothing.

Well, you may want to start next school year so you can fill out the FAFSA. You may get enough grants to cover your expenses, if you can't get any scholarships. The school you decide to go to may help you with financial aid, too. My family has no money to put anyone through college, so filling out the FAFSA helped me to receive enough federal aid and aid from my school to cover most of my expenses.

If you're still having trouble, why don't you find a school with open admission, like a 2-year school? or a technical school?
