COMPUTER GENIUS to COMPUTER GENIUS'S
COME IN PLEASE

it might seem simple but im having a little trouble,

problem stated simply: im trying to run a program that ask for a network folder. i can access the folder though windows explorer but the program cant find it, i have no way of reprograming this program, altho im thinking of making one myself but i dont have the time, but i really need this program to work, it just work across computers

two computers  -   james2      and           jimmy-lappc


1. james2 has the network folder on it
2. jimmy-lappc is trying to access it
3. the address is \\james2\documents\pos

os used are xp and xp or xp and vista, ive tryed a different computer once

im up for questions and dicussions

The problem is you need to be on the same Windows workground space in the network. Have you made a workgroup for it? Are you on the same one? Info.

Then you need to type it in the style of: \\WORKGROUP\james2\documents\pos

Try that.

yea i have the same workgroup
but usally the workgroup would not let you access the files at all, but im able to see them in explorer but somehow the program cant, but i know the program works cause im currently have the folder on the computer and so somehow its being blocked going over the network, ive tried adding it to/turing off the firewall. not sure
