Of course you can be too thin. Health complications can come from being too skinny.

Asking someone what their definition of "too thin" is, is like asking them what the best sport in the world is. Everyone will be somewhat different, and no one will be right. Of course in their own mind they'll be right, but to someone else they won't be. That's where other's judgement and opinions gets in the way. Someone may think you're fat, when you're actually (medically speaking) perfectly healthy. Then you're unfortunately influenced by them to lose weight, causing you to become unhealthy. Of course you can be "too thin", but it's all based on people's opinion. If you want the right answer you need to look towards medicine's opinion. Which really isn't opinion, it's fact. I can't tell you what "too thin" is in medical terms, because it's relative to the measurements of your body and age. All I can tell you is that you shouldn't strive to be "enough" in other people's eyes, or even your own, but in terms of health. If you're healthy, then that's all that matters. Right?

It's enough when everyone around you can really recognize and point out that there is a problem. Seriously, you can't ask when is enough as a broad question. Everyone has different views of what "too thin" is going to be. For some, it might be what society would think of as slim. For others, it might be a stick figure passing by. There are so many different extremes that can be associated with the phrase "too thin." So basically look at yourself. When you identify that there is an issue that you need to fix, then chances are that that is too thin. Whenever you get to the point where you're underweight (by BMI, like you stated [but that doesn't take in account for body muscle/etc.]) or just by looking at you. If it's easy to see your bones sticking out, then that would be a good sign of 'too thin.' At least, that's my opinion. Hmm. You used to be a bit overweight, and now that you've lost some of that weight that was on your shoulders people are going to notice a difference and they most likely are going to point it out. It's just going to have to be a part of your life that you're going to have to understand. Does it mean you have to gain more weight? Nah, not really. Unless it gets to a point where you do keep losing weight and more people recognize that you're too thin. In reality, our family is going to obviously compliment us and say those types of things to boost our moral. Dictionary.com's Reference to the word Thin:
1.having relatively little extent from one surface or side to the opposite; not thick: thin ice. 3.having little flesh; spare; lean: a thin man. 5.scant; not abundant or plentiful.
Now I'm not saying you need to go by this definition and apply yourself, it's just another representation of how the word "thin" can mean different things based on the context and who is using it. I do agree that too thin is when you can't function correctly, but it definitely starts happening before that. That would, in a sense, be taking it a step further. Just try to find a weight where you're comfortable at and where you plateau at. :) If you like your body and who you are, that's all that should matter.
