After fasting is this normal?? |

I fasted for only 36 hours. I had only zero calorie liquids. Now after fasting, when I finally ate a few crackers (to slowly ease myself back into eating) ten minutes afterward, for about 5 minutes I experienced chest pain and a pounding and racing heart. Now it's nearly an hour later and I'm eating noodles with broth. I am also extremely thirsty. I drank one bottle of crystal lite, downed the broth and am on my second bottle of crystal lite. Could I be dehydrated even though I drank tons of liquids during my fast?? Thanks :) I know fasting doesn't do much but it makes me feel more in control. It also doesn't make me binge so don't worry about that.

I would venture to say that that is a normal after affect because you have been depriving your body from food and basically starving yourself, which leads to dehydration like you said. Just slowly work your way in from not eating anything, and eat small things like crackers. Try drinking and eating fruit drinks for the time being until it starts to feel better. You probably just need to have some sugars in your system before you start to digest food.
