ive just had a virus scan and it says i have 9 threats and 78 infections im using avast! but that dosnt seem to do anything does anyone know any anti virus software i could use

Try using malwarebytes, and perhaps getting a firewall to prevent you from future infections. Also, you really should try to clean out your harddrive and everything from these viruses. Maybe buying an actual virus scan which removes them would do you best. :/ Any idea how you're getting them?

I'm not sure. I guess so.I'm not a computer wizz, it's just what I've got and I have no virus-related problems (so far).

Edit: To make sure Avast! isn't picking up any false readings.

Configure a boot-time scan to run with Avast and have it automatically quarantine/move to chest anything it finds.  Avast does a much better job with boot-time scans.

Just because someone knows how to program doesn't mean they are any good at actually working with OSes/hardware.  I know a senior computer science major (programming) that needs help installing drivers.
