lol what makes you say that? Have you driven either? You really think Mitsubishi would regress in terms of vehicle development?

The X has superiority over the IX. The only thing the IX has over the X are it is .2 seconds faster in a straight line (if you're buying an Evo for straight line speed then you've made a mistake) and it has a rawer feel, so the drive is a bit more engaging because of the lack of technology. Besides that the Evo X frame is a hell of a lot stronger and better than the IX's, it's much safer, the interior is better, it has CRUISE CONTROL, it responds better to mods (makes more power), it has a better track time, it handles better, and it looks more grown up rather than a fast and the furious penny racer.

So all you IX fans can hate all you want, but the facts stand. Ryan Gates and the AMS crew have won every race they've attended so far, and they drive Evo X's. Evo IX's drive in the same classes, yet they don't win. Ryan Gates himself said that the X is better and has tons of potential.

What do you drive?

Might be lightly modded.  Still a pretty quick car.

Wasn't a direct attack on the Evo X, just that its drifted away from its roots. I've driven several IX's including an IX MR that I almost bought, back in early 2008 when you could still get them new. Ive only driven the X MR, (on a test drive with a dealership I'm reasonably friendly with) but I found the lack of a true manual disengaging, and the weight of the car to be a let down after the razor edge handling the IX possessed.  I wasn't able to push the outer limits of either car, and the additional electronic aids in the X appeared to help control rotation well.

I am a bit concerned at your disdain for the IX though. It may not have your "cruise control" or your pretty interior, but it spanks the fuck out of ever X that comes its way, in a drag, on a track, and nearly any other way you test it. The IX is a rally car, and the X is still nice, but its clearly not in the same genre as I-IX.

Oh and I drive a lightly modded Mazdaspeed3, which unfortunately I've yet to actually drive, with the mods listed.

Yeah I'm aware the GSR has a 5 speed. Maybe I came across as harsh. Not my intention, but anyone driving an X, who can disrespect the I-IX series, seems lost.

I left my car at my parents house, figured my pops can manage to take care of the day to day stuff. The installs were done by a local shop, a few weeks ago. It does need a good wax though.
