if i remember, it's a popular guy and a nerdy girl end up falling in love, then, the girl gets cancer or something and dies.

I have only seen the movie, idk how similar they are but here's the synopsis of the movie: Bad boy gets in trouble, has to do tutoring as comm. service, meets preacher's daughter, they hate each other at first but eventually start dating and fall in love, he realizes his friends are douches and ditches them and his bad boy ways, finds out girl has leukemia.
