She fell for me this summer.  I didn't think it would be a good idea. Recently, I've started liking her.  I told her we should date.  She said she likes me but is afraid of losing a friend.  What do I say to this?  Would it be fair to tell her that I don't think it'd be a good idea to just be friends?  it'd kill me to see her date another guy...

My best friend and I fell for each other too.
We actually recently broke up, but we're still talking as friends.
Things are a bit shaky right now..but i still believe that we'll be okay in the future.
Simply because our love was built upon a strong friendship and because we broke up over wanting to see each other happier.
However, even though things aren't so good at the moment, i do not regret my decision to let him in my life as my lover.
Sometimes it's worth the risk to find such a love.  

It's better to have try than to never have known at all.
