I didn't really know what forum to put this in...but yeah... My american friend is going back from Iraq in about a month...he applied for leave, but at the base in america. He wants to fly over here though..he said officially, he's not allowed coz he applied for base leave, but he's leaving the army soon and said he doesn't really care at this point what could happen...and he talked to someone who said that when he applied, he put down an address, and it's mainly for medical purposes etc. So I've tried researching, but everything looks so complicated!! So my questions are: 1. Is he meant to report somewhere daily if he's on base leave? 2. What would happen if he got found out?

If he left without permission, he could face prison time for "deserting".

1--I don't think so; thus the term "on LEAVE" 2--If it actually does matter, he could be demoted, could have his pay held, etc.

If you apply to leave then they will have you report to make sure no changes are made. And you cant leave base. You can get in alot of truble for leaving.
