But not everybody is smart/talented enough to be a doctor, so some people just have to settle.

you can be involved in the medical profession and make GOOD money but not have the stress of being the doctor in charge.

once you have your RN you can train to be a nurse anethsictist (sp?) and make 140,000+ a year helping with anesthesiology

That's not true at all..

Most doctors that are not hired for doctoral jobs become med school teachers and the like, very few of them are going to become a nurse.

Nurses make good pay. Some people also crave excitement and unpredictability, which hospitals of full of, obviously. I could never do it. I would go postal and run out of the hospital like a lunatic, then get put back IN the hospital's psych ward.
