I wouldn't actually call the clothing unique when there are hundreds of people dressed in all black, they are all the same, it's just a fashion. They get the "depressed" stereotype because all black clothing is usually associated with funerals.

Black is all I wear and I'm a pretty depressed person, but I refuse to label myself as such. The term "Goth" is tossed around far to much and is often confused with the Emo sub-culture anyway.
