Hey. I am sorry to hear this, I lost one of my firefighting buddies: my best friend, my mentor on a call one night not too long ago. Here is what I want to tell you.
See your friend died but your friend is never really gone. He left you physically but he will never leave you emotionally. He will always walk beside you and he will remain in your heart. I know it sounds pathetic but its really true.
I also want you to know that you are or will feel a great sadness for your lose and some days you may find it hard getting out of bed or to even function as you know you will never see your friend again or never go out to dinner with him or her or just gaze into their eyes. But you gotta have hope man, you gotta have faith, you will see your friend again, if you have no other hope in life, let that be your hope. You can't let losing your friend break you down, you gotta rise up, rise, my brother, theres nothing holding you down. Death is a common thing now in life and it will occur but it hurts every time and I realize this.
See you might have regrets too, regrets that you didn't do this and this with your friend but man, don't let it kill your spirit. Your friend would want you to grieve for him or her but your friend would also want you to overcome this challenge by remembering your friend but to keep trudging on in life. Your friend will also be by yourside as you do this, watching over you, nodding at you as you continue and move on with your life. After you grieve and move on, things will start to get better and your friend would approve of this.
Don't let losing a friend get to you, there is no point wishing you were dead or doing something unsmart because you want to be reunited with that friend. You will see your friend again one day, let that give you hope.
If you ever want to talk,
message me.
Stay Strong,
~ Cat
