After millenia of a constant struggle between the liberalism and freedom of the people, and the conservative centralized power, conservatism has won. The victory is so total that men like Hamilton, Metternich, and Cromwell couldn't even have envisioned such an utter defeat of liberalism.

Even from the times of Cesar, there has been war between the two opposing sides, and they have taken many forms. Marx described it as class struggle, America and Europe have seen the two sides coalesce in agrarianism versus industrialism.

One of the most triumphant victories of the conservatives, was industrialization. Romantics, staunch supporters of liberalism, fought the movement bitterly to the end, most of all Germany, America, Britain, and Japan, all having even large numbers of suicides of those in protest to industry.

Yet even with Marx and his manifesto, conservatism, as it always has, subverted liberalism and made it their own. Stalin, Mao, Castro, all children of Marx, became conservative dictators. Even concepts such as socialism have done nothing but to further the state's grasp on it's people.

Today, true liberals are a dying breed. Few and far between moderates labeled as radicals see the corruption of our individual freedoms and can do nothing but mourn the death of individualism. As if a mockery, an insult by conservatism, parties exist under the banner of liberty yet would do nothing but sedate the populace in the name of their happiness, at the expense of what little freedom still remains.

We are led by noose and collar, unable to fight back any longer, with industrialization, the true rise and freedom of the people became an impossibility. We will never regain the freedoms we once had, we will never again have true liberty. In the end, control has won.

You're a fool. If you'd take a second to consider what I'm saying, you'll realize it to be true. We're been tended to and cared for like children, allowed to play games and taught to believe we're free and liberalism has won, but in truth we are helpless and shackled by the throat.

I wouldn't be so sure that it has won Dionysius. I think I grasp what you're saying despite several likely disagreements, but in any case, I don't think anyone's "won".

If it is as you say... then look at how the thing's actually built right now. Economically it's unstable, like a tower built on sand.

To most Americans that will make no sense because in our political world Classical Liberals are more aligned to modern conservatives.
