There is a point where life is more painful than death. If a person is competent to make the conscious decision of whether to die or not, then they should be allowed to be assisted in suicide. Someone who only lives in pain is only being tortured if forced to stay alive.

if it was the op, that's a shame they took an opinion from someone who doesn't even know what it is.

physicians who do assisted suicides usually are like dr kevorkian. they assist with terminal patients who are dying, in pain, but not dead yet obviously. they are in unimaginable amounts of pain, they suffer on a daily basis, and they find no relief. they want to die. and they want to die with an ounce of dignity.

I'm for it. If they're terminal, they're going to die any way. Best put them out of their misery, then make them suffer.

It is terrible to watch someone deteriorate to the point were they are just in limbo, suffering day in and day out.
