There's this guy.  He's one of my best friends and I'm in love with him.  I have been for ages.  But he's got someone else that he loves and adores and treats like a princess.  And it fucking sucks.  But I could never tell  him.  Never ever. I love him so much, its practically palpable. He's so freaking sweet to me, even when I don't deserve it at all.  And he gets me...god we have so much in common it's just weird.  But all I want is for him to be happy.  And apparently he's happy when he's with this girl.  I could never ruin that. God I hate my life.

Just keep it to yourself, as much as that sucks.  I've been in a similar situation, and now I'm glad I never said anything.  Sometimes just having the person as a friend is better.

If something is going to happen between you two then the best thing to do would be to let him know beforehand. But you have to watch the signs he gives you. Like if he starts to complain about his girlfriend to you but still loves her, don't say anything. But if the relationship breaks down.
Don't focus your life around him, do what you want to do. Guys shouldn't be the main focus in anyone's life. If nothing happens between you, accept that you are obviously better for a friendship with him than a relationship. That's nothing against you, some people just aen't compatable together for anything more than friends.
You will find someone who loves you as much as you love them. You just need to give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day as they say. As aren't relationships. Find new hobbies such as clubs or new places to go and meet new people. The more outgoing you are, the better your chance of finding someone.

yeah i knnow it sucks =[ but you know, you guys ahve so much in comon and get each other because you're friends, maybe you'd lose that if you were more. It sounds hard to believe, but trust me, one day you'll meet someone else and suddenly you'll wonder how you could have felt so strongly towards your friend, things will work out =]
