In music We are learning guitar. The first thing we are doing is tuning. The teacher played a string and told us to make our guitars sound like it. I know she can't help all 20 of us, but I think it's suckish that she is teaching us to tune by ear first. I play guitar, and I know it's hard for a beginner to distinguish if thy are in tune or not. Do you think she is BEng a bit too hard on the class? (for the record, not many have prior instrument experience)

No, I don't. It's not that hard to distinguish a low E from a high E.

. I didn't mean it that wy. What I mean is that the people in my class have to do this: the teacher played high E and told the kids to tune their E to sound like the one she played. And alot of people had trouble because they didn't really know how to tune it or make it sound anything like The E she played.

That may have needed a slightly more thorough explanation on the teachers part but chucking you in at the deep end is the best way to learn guitar
