Well, for the past week and a half, I've been coughing a bit more than normal. And, it gets especially worse at night. (Like, I'll cough every so often at night, fairly violently.)

Normally, I really hate self-diagnosing. (Mostly because it's not accurate, at all.) My mom's going to take me to the doctor's soon, but she's sure that it's not asthma. I've done some research on my symptoms, and that's the only thing that it matches up with, even if it's minor.

I used to have breathing problems as a child, and I used to have an inhaler, so I'm fairly certain that's what it is.

So, yeah. What do you think? Asthma or not? Am I overreacting?

Well I have asthma, and unless your coughing is accompanied by tightness in your chest when you breathe, wheezing, and feeling like someone is sitting on your chest, it's probably not asthma. Have you had a cold recently?

I haven't been sick in a fairly long time.

But, my chest does feel a bit constricted, but it's not too bad right now. It only started feeling like that last night. Before, it was just coughing. I barely ever wheeze, but it does happen occasionally. If I cough and clear my throat, it does stop, though.

you may have some sort of respiratory infection that has symptoms that mirror asthma...it sounds like you have congestion left from your illness which would explain clearing your throat and coughing at night.  when you're laying down all that congestion sits in your lungs and you cough.

It doesn't necessarily happen (only) when I'm laying down.
Just when it starts to get later in the day. I didn't know why.

But, that could be it. I'll have to go to the doctor's to see.
