I'm pretty active in TASA and I keep noticing recurring patterns that are actually dangerous. People will answer questions they don't know the answers to, other people will agree with the false information just to act cool, and then others will go and post that information in other threads. This kind of thing, while causing simple confusion in most cases, can do some real harm one day.
For instance, somebody recommending a very ill pain patient to take a opiate antagonist to relieve withdrawal symptoms that in reality could have killed him within an hour. Or 4-5 people in a row agreeing that vicodin is a muscle relaxant.
I think it's great that we have an area where kids who are a little naive, and maybe scared to ask their peers in real life for information, can go to get this information. it COULD BE a wonderful resource. The problem is that the same naive kids are the ones, more often than not, providing the information, or rather, misinformation.
It would be great if we could have some sort of drug counselor position (or have something done to create the same result) where people could ask questions and have them answered by those qualified to answer them accurately and in a manner that will keep everyone safe.
