And the word analogies? People can make connections, but how do you make a connection if... say for example you had no idea what gerontology was, or what the instrument you use for polo is?

  Har har har. Ah, this is a funny story I be about to tell.    

  The 127 was from when I took it a year or so ago. I gave it another go and scored a 140. Go me. Reading "Sophie's World" over the summer really helped on those philosophy questions. I had forgotten that the test had knowledge questions, which sort of invalidates it as an IQ test, but hey it's still a nice ego inflater.

 I don't think it counts when you post a lower score and then give a story that it was from a long time ago either I tend not to believe odd claims like that.  

 A lot of IQ societies are taking chess rankings now, which is really interesting since it pits person directly against person rather than rating them on a somewhat arbitrary scale like IQ.

Actually it's not an arbitrary scale. The real IQ test is adjusted every yera so that 100 is always the average.

And that 100 average is an arbitrary average, and depending on what test you take the author has arbitrarily used 15, 16, or 24 or some number for the SD (standard deviation). What I'm trying to say is that, not only are chess rankings self-standardizing, but they test your performance relative to others directly rather than indirectly.

it's supposedly the best "iq test" available online. it's obviously not totally legitimate because it's...online.
