I'm on Windows Vista, had a computer for 6 years now and have never crashed, had a virus or problem. I managed to short circuit it once because a phone jack was messed up, but it would of done the same to a Mac PC so it just goes to show.

I don't even run Anti Virus Programs nor a firewall. I scan my computer using a Online program every month and no problems yet.

Unix is a type of Linux. Linux is the overall name.

Ever wonder why Linux looks similar to windows? Because the source code in places matches. I studied this as part of a course so  I could get Cisco Qualified as a Systems Administrator.
Linux is not directly from Windows, but source codes match in some places.

You kidding me? I was watching Attack of the Show last year and they were talking about the first iPhone Virus. Transmitting be difficult? iPhones roam on the 2G or 3G network and connect to the Web = Quite Easy to download a virus without knowing it.

Spam Cookies, Trojans Trackers, Key Loggers and so forth are considered Viruses. Common Knowledge. They teach kids that in Computer Class in Grade 5.

Why it looks similar? Seriously? Are you just joking now? The windowing environment that a Linux distro may use bears no relevance to Windows because of the coding. KDE and GNOME may look similar because that's how they were designed, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the coding behind it. Moreover you could easily change what windowing system you were using and the underlying Linux kernel would be the same.

I suggest you learn the definition of a virus before you make even more of a fool of yourself. Viruses specifically have to be self-replicating software that infects other machines. malware, spyware, etc, are all different, and since a normal keylogger doesn't actually copy itself over the network or spread otherwise, it wouldn't be considered a virus. Spam cookies? wtf? Cookies are cookies, and aren't viruses. Trojans are also different, because unlike viruses they don't self-replicate.

Seriously, I don't know whether you have your head stuck up your arse or anything, but seeing as how you don't seem to have any technical knowledge whatsoever, I'd ask you to remove it from there.

No, Unix is different from Linux. Linux evolved from Unix but you can't consider Unix a flavour or distribution of Linux as say you could Gentoo, Mandrake, Fedora, etc. Linux isn't the overall name, if we're going by overall names you might as well say 'Operating System' it would be far more accurate description. In fact OS X Leopard meets the Open Unix Certification requirements and can officially be thought of as a Unix distro, like Sun OS for example. It is therefore stupid and incorrect to say Unix is a type of Linux, because any person with a infinitesimal amount of technical knowledge will laugh in your face if you said that OS X was a type of Linux.

Linux is a kernal, unix is a type of OS. Unix is a registered name so Linux cannot be described as a Unix OS however you will here linux described as a Unix like system. One thing to bear in mind is that Linux is NOT an OS it is just the kernal the GNU (recursive acronym for GNU's Not Unix) is what people often confuse as being 'Linux' this is however the command line and tools that interact with the Linux Kernal.

Both Minix and Linux taken the idea from Unix not the source, like everything will be handled like a file...

This started out with MY question to AVG scanning time, now it's elapsed to something to do with Unix and being better with computers than the other person.
