I am pretty confident when I talk to girls. I fake it very well and after that it (usually) just comes easier.
For me, the hardest part is just going over there and talking.

don't worry man nearly all guys find it hard to talk to attractive women.
I guess you just have to realise what have you got to loose, I mean you may as well try.
Maybe if you felt more confident in yourself, say you started working out you may feel you have more of a chance? If you get my drift.

If you're a normally a social person, you shouldn't have a problem. The worst thing that guys do is psych themselves out. So right when you see that girl that you want to talk to, walk over to them and say something - DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. I know it's easier said than done, but you just have to. Look at the surroundings, and just think of something clever as you're walking over, and don't use pickup lines.
