Note that fruit fly research is almost the sole reason  for much of the massive amount of knowledge we have gained about genetics during the last one hundred years. This is because fruit flies have very fast generation and have genomes that can be manipulated easily.

This was the precise moment I lost all respect for Palin. Someone who has this little respect for science should not hold office anywhere.

as if Palin was a seriously contender! It's obvious that she was just McCain's way of getting the female vote. Trust, if Hilary had been running they would have picked a black guy.

McCain was rightly worried that he would divided the Reps, it's just he picked the wrong candidate who pushed away voters in three ways: with her crazy, with the scandel and with her attempted overshadowing of him near the end when it became clearer he was losing.

If she wants to run in 2012 she seriously needs to repair her reputation.

As someone who was very involved in the campaign of 2007-2008 I can tell you moderates were already locked to Obama.  McCain chose Palin to secure the base which was not happy with the most liberal of the Republicans being their candidate.

Palin did not lose the election for McCain.
