Here is the newest list of top ten best selling vehicles in the U.S. compiled of total sales for May, 2009. This is a list that has generally stayed the same for years, so normally I wouldn't post it. This time things are a little different.

  • 10. Ford Escape (16,391)
  • 9. Nissan Altima (18,408)
  • 8. Chevrolet Impala (18,709)
  • 7. Ford Fusion (19,786)
  • 6. Honda Civic (20,723)
  • 5. Honda Accord (22,597)
  • 4. Toyota Corolla (23,576)
  • 3. Toyota Camry (31,325)
  • 2. Chevrolet Silverado (31,463)
  • 1. Ford F-150 (33,381)

What you'll notice, is for the first time the Ford Fusion has outsold the Chevy Impala. The Ford Escape is also a new arrival to the list, and the Camry and Altima are within sights of outselling Chevy's Silverado and Impala, respectively. Whats the best selling American sedan? Its now got a Blue Oval on the grill. Another new detail to the list is the lack of the Dodge Ram, or any Chrysler Corporation product for that matter.

I meant the list of top selling vehicles. Obviously the last one on a top 10 list is 10, that's not what I was curious about, and I feel that that was pretty obvious.

EDIT: I thought at first it was one of those things thats said after briefly skimming a post with out really reading it.

A Hummer no doubt. Just speculation. Who knows, now that China owns the Hummer brand there might be hope.

Chevrolet Blazer, 2005. In terms of most deaths per 1,000 cars or whatever it is, more people die in Blazers then in any other car.

Really? You don't think it'd be one of those crazy expensive cars?

I wonder if there's a way to calculate the highest selling car per dollar (like, to adjust for price, y'know?).

    I have weird questions, don't I?

Nah, I've wondered about this stuff too. I've always figured pricey exotics shouldn't even be compared to economy cars and the like.. I mean, there is this website (fueleconomy.gov) with fuel economy ratings. They've got the ten best and worst, and the worst is compiled entirely of European sports cars. Well, duh, they're going to be the worst. Why even include?

I'll need to find a way to figure out the worst sellers, not including cars that were designed to be low-selling vehicles.

Or maybe you could just calculate the percentage of cars sold versus how many are built? Or would that be skewed as well?
