Last time I checked Canada wasn't a continent.

what are you yammering on about

America is a continent...does Europe have an official language? No. I'm pretty sure the only country that has an official language is Australia.

america refers to the united states of america.

Well, make sure to clarify.

Although people speak different language in the united states - English is our offical language because all business transactions (such as contracts) must be conducted in english and the federal goverment conducts all business in English, thus making it the offical language of the United States.

Now it does not mean a contract can not be in both english and spanish but in a court of law the english interpretaton of the language will be used to determine the meaning of the contract.
