LAX to YYJ (Victoria, BC)

I keep getting conflicted answers,

If not, what are my options, I have my birth cert and social security number and would rather not buy a port unless i NEED too

Yes.

I needed a passport to fly from YEG (Edmonton, Alberta) to LAX and back.

And that was in 2005 - passport laws are stricter now.

Honestly, check with the Canadian government.

There, that should help you.

When are you going? As of June 1, 2009, everyone from every country that comes to Canada by air, land and sea needs a passport or equivalent travel document.

You might have to. I know that when my friend goes into Windsor all she needs is her birth certificate, so it might be the same thing for you. It just all depends.

Not true.
I can fly from Belfast to England/Scotland/Wales with just a form of ID.

that's because those are all in the united kingdom. if you wanted to fly to somewhere else, you'd need a passport. just like how if I want to fly from Alberta to british columbia, i don't need a passport. but if i were to fly from canada to the USA, I would need a passport
