From what you've said and what I know, I'd venture to say he didn't die of a heart attack; he died of lung cancer. People don't die from hearing a loud noise.

Well you can go talk to his wife about that. She said he was very startled, and next thing she knew he couldn't breathe, then stopped all together. The ME said it was a heart attack.

My advice: take it up with his wife.
