It is very importnt to get one, usually its about 3 months after you start but you should have one at the very least 2 years after you start haveing sex

It really doesn't have to do with going on birth control; it has to do with being sexually active.
If you're sexually active, you should have a pelvic exam and pap smear, regardless of whether or not you use any kind of birth control.

Well, I know that, but I'm going to get put on birth control in about a week and a half here so I was just curious if they would do that or not.

When I went to get birth control I got a pelvic exam and the whole shebang, but that may have been because I was already sexually active. I'm not sure.
