Here's a fun, simple question to get you thinking. If you got hold of a potion which granted eternal life, would you drink it? No draw backs. You pick your age and stay that way forever. You cannot die of natural causes, nor get killed.

Of course I would. And yes, I've thought about it before. My positions on things like these are pretty close if not in line with transhumanist thought.

If the potion worked as you say You wouldn't have to eat or drink. I could sit in a laboratory and study genetics until the world was destroyed; The i could just float in space!

Seriously though, The knowledge of death and the fact that it will occur is what drives man to act. Without that drive you would sink into a situation where you would want to do nothing.

I don't know... I'm an atheist so I think there is nothing awaiting me after I die but still... maybe I'd get tired of living. I'd just live on and on. My loves would grow old and die around me. My friends would decay while I stood frozen in time. I could see everything. Spread the knowledge of an older generation, but still would I be happy ever again? Nothing had a risk anymore. If I lose my job I could just give up eating. To some degree i fear death, but do I ever want to defeat it? No. Not unless I was it's master an could summon it when I was done living.

No. It's not as easy or fun as it seems. Have you thought about yourself? All the people in your life that will come and go leaving you constantly lonely?

I strongly disagree here - I love learning and new experiences, I love seeing what the future holds, and I love meeting new people - there is so much I could do, and so much more to be done as time goes on, I really don't think it would be an issue.

"There must be some way outta here, said the joker to the thief."

I would absolutely accept said terms as long as I was also invulnerable to any sort of deformity or brain damage, that my mental capacity as well as physical could never deteriorate.

Given such an opportunity, were I to discover the existence of an afterlife, I'd literally have eternity to find a way to travel in and out of it without dying, and so I would still eventually be able to see everyone. Even if ultimately I had to be alone in the universe as even it dies out I think it'd be worth it to be able to see the things I would get to see, to be able to do the things I would get to do.
