why do you suppose the only excuse that black people don't have jobs is that we keep them down?

I'm not saying it is.  However, lately I've been hearing a lot of people throwing around things like white privilege / racism as reasons for it.  Moreover, I find most people usually tend to shift blame away from individual minorities as the reasons for their being poor, and usually use racism to serve that purpose.

I made this thread more as a response to that.  How can you say that minorities are poor due to racism perpetuated by whites when many whites themselves are also in poverty?  White privilege just seems a little odd to me considering how you must ignore the white people who are dirt poor and not well off at all, as well as ignore the minorities who have achieved middle class+ status, in order for it to be valid.  Too much selective attention, in my honest opinion.  I don't like ignoring things.

plus some white ppl get looked down as white trash by other whites. so its a type of discrimination too but not base on race.

second some whites get dsicrminated against because of the place they come from like appalachians and they get looked down by other white. its discrimination too but not base on race. its more like social rank kinda thing.

it says that OVERALL if you white you stand better chance (for jobs, for hiring for trust, for higher education for avoiding jail).

but it dont say ANYTHING about just because you black you HAVE to be poor or just because you white you HAVE TO be rich. THAT is not true. obv.

white privilege basically mean having a bonus starting point in the game but it dont mean you automatically win or even make it through. thats kinda of why theres affirmative action is to give other ppl bonus starting point too.

but not EVERY minority benefit from affirmative action obv otherwise every single minority would go to Harvard or Stanford. and not every white gets advantage from the bonus starting point.

honest though i dont believe its that big as it used to anymore but it still exist. i mean its not gone away completely and it depends where and what we talking about.

The reason black people are poor is ALSO because of Capitalism. But the reason a DISPROPORTIONATE amount of black people are poor is because of White Privilege/Racism.

I've noticed how some white students never get worried when they are near failing b/c they feelt hat the prof or teacher will pass them simply b/c they are white. Whereas the minority/nonwhite has to work twice as hard.
