if given the opportunity, will want to end mankind.

This is why mandkind will destroy itself when science gets to be too advanced. Someone will create themselves up a nice lethal virus that's invisible for ten years so everybody gets it before anybody dies, or an STD +something in the water that means all our children will be born with a genetic disorder that makes them completely infertile.

It'll be a shit ending.

What makes you think that science will only advance to the extent of destruction?  There are always balances.

For that one person that wants to end mankind at all costs, there will b someone else who does everything to save it.
